"Dishonest money dwindles away, but he who gathers money
by little makes it grow."
Proverbs 13:11

In searching for ways by which to help bring self-sufficiency to the people of Burma, we learned of a successful micro credit program developed by Muhammed Yunus. The 2006 winner of the Nobel Peace Prize, Mr. Yunus, provided very small loans to the very poor, reasoning that if the terms and conditions were appropriate, then the poorest of the poor could get themselves out of poverty. His program (operating as the Grameen Bank) has touched over 30 million people in 27 countries with a 98.3% loan recovery rate. Using this model, it is our plan to provide the people of Burma with the opportunities to either start or expand a small business for the purpose of overcoming poverty and their reliance on outside organizations for financial support. We have trained people in the basics of the micro finance and micro business programs and met with village leaders who will be instrumental in the success of this program.
